The second Test between India and Australia is taking place in Adelaide, and things are not going well for India on Day 1. India won the toss, and captain Rohit Sharma decided to bat first. India made three changes to their team, with Shubman Gill, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Rohit Sharma returning to play. They replaced Dhruv Jurel, Devdutt Padikkal, and Washington Sundar. Australia made one change, bringing in Scott Boland instead of Josh Hazlewood.
India started their batting innings badly, as they lost their first wicket very early. Rohit Sharma was out for only 3 runs when Scott Boland bowled him out with a good delivery that hit his pads. This was a big wicket for Australia, putting India under pressure. India now had to rebuild their innings quickly to avoid losing more wickets.
Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy were at the crease, trying to help India recover. They needed to stay at the crease and score runs to get India out of trouble. By the end of the first session, India’s score was 82/4, with Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma still at the crease. India had already lost some important batsmen, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill.

In the first session, Mitchell Starc took three wickets for Australia, while Scott Boland took one. India’s batting was under pressure, and they needed to play carefully to avoid losing more wickets. In the second session, Pant and Rohit tried to build a partnership, but it was tough. Rohit Sharma was out for 3 runs by Boland, leaving India at 87/5.
India’s batting problems continued as Shubman Gill was out for 31 runs, LBW to Boland. Virat Kohli was caught behind off a short ball from Mitchell Starc, and KL Rahul was caught out for 37 runs. At this point, India was 77/3, and their top-order batsmen were struggling.
Pant and Shubman Gill had tried to attack the Australian bowlers and score some runs, but the Australian bowlers were too strong, and India kept losing wickets. It was a tough time for the Indian team, and they were hoping to avoid another collapse like the 36-all-out defeat in Adelaide in 2020.
At tea, India’s score was 82/4. They had lost some key wickets, and now Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy had to do most of the work to bring India back into the game. Australia’s bowlers were trying to get more wickets and stay ahead in the match.
The pink-ball Test had not started well for India, with Australia taking control of the match. India needs to find a way to stop the collapse and build partnerships to stay in the game. It will be a big challenge for the Indian team to get back on track and perform well in this Test match.
