Google has asked the U.S. government to stop Microsoft’s special deal with OpenAI. This deal allows Microsoft to use its cloud servers to host OpenAI’s AI models like ChatGPT. The request came after the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) started investigating Microsoft’s business practices.

According to The Information, Google and other companies like Amazon want to give their customers access to OpenAI’s AI models without needing Microsoft’s servers. They believe this would be fairer to other companies and their customers.
The report also said that companies using OpenAI through Microsoft might have to pay extra costs unless they already use Microsoft’s cloud servers. This could make it expensive for companies, and Google believes this would hurt their customers.
Google did not comment on these claims. Microsoft, OpenAI, and the FTC have also not yet replied to the news agency’s questions.
This move shows how competitive the AI and cloud computing business has become.
