In March 2025, Europe became hotter than ever before. The weather was very warm in many places. Some areas got too much rain, while others had very little. Around the world, March was also one of the hottest ever. This hot weather started in July 2023 and is still going on.

Since then, almost every month has been hotter than normal by at least 1.5 degrees. This number is compared to the time before people started using machines, cars, and factories that burn coal and oil. In March, the Earth was 1.6 degrees hotter than that older time. Scientists say this shows how much people have changed the Earth’s weather.
This warming is not only about feeling hot. It also changes rain, snow, and storms. When oceans get warm, they put more water in the air. This can make rains stronger and storms more wild. It also changes where rain falls and how much comes down. Some parts of Europe had the driest March in 50 years. Other places had the most rain they have seen in the same time. These weather changes hurt farms, towns, and people’s daily lives.
Other places in the world also had big weather problems. Central Asia had a very strong hot wave. In Argentina, heavy rains caused floods and 16 people died.
The heat in 2023 and 2024 made those years the warmest ever. In 2023, for the first full year, the Earth stayed above the safe limit of 1.5 degrees hotter. Countries had made a promise to try and keep below that line. But now, it looks like it may be too hard to do.
Scientists thought the weather would cool down after a warming time called El Niño ended in early 2024. Usually, it gets cooler after that. But the Earth stayed hot. Now, experts are trying to understand what else is making it so warm.
To learn all this, scientists use tools that check the weather from the sky, the sea, the land, and even from trees and ice. These tools show that the Earth today might be the warmest it has been in more than 125,000 years.
