In the build-up to Saturday's $12 million Dubai World Cup (G1), the post position draw at Dubai's Armani Hotel brought a mix of emotions for the trio of Dubai runners vying for victory. Doug Watson's Kabirkhan secured the advantageous second post, while Musabbeh Al Mheiri's Military Law drew barrier four. However, Bhupat Seemar's hopes with Laurel River were dashed as they drew the widest gate, number 12.

Despite the challenging draw, jockey Tadhg O'Shea remained optimistic, acknowledging the difficulty but expressing confidence in his ability to navigate from the outermost gate.
