The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced temporary road closures in Dubai for the fourth stage of the UAE Tour cycling race on Thursday. According to RTA, traffic will be suspended from 12:30pm to 4pm at specific intersections for 10 to 15 minutes while cyclists pass through. Once the last competitor has passed, normal traffic flow will resume. The RTA emphasized that these closures are coordinated with Dubai Police to ensure smooth implementation. Motorists are advised to review the route map provided by the authority for detailed information on affected roads. Dubai Police also shared the route map, urging drivers to familiarize themselves with the closures and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

The UAE Tour, the one and only UCI WorldTour race in the Middle East, began on February 19 and will conclude on February 25. Comprising a total distance of 980km across seven stages, the race features a variety of terrain, including sprint stages, mountain stages, and a high-speed individual time trial. Stage 4, known as the 'Dubai Stage,' covers a distance of 171km, starting from the Dubai Police Officer's Club and ending at Dubai Harbour.

During the race, cyclists will traverse several iconic landmarks and neighborhoods in Dubai. The route takes them through Downtown Dubai, where they will pass by the iconic Burj Khalifa, before heading towards Deira. From there, cyclists will venture into the desert and navigate through the Al Qudra Cycle Track and Jumeirah Islands. Continuing their journey, riders will pass Palm Jumeirah and eventually reach the sprint finish at Dubai Harbour.

The road closures will impact several key streets in Dubai, including Oud Maitha Road, Baniyas Street, Al Khaleej Street, Infinity Bridge, and Corniche Street - Al Mina Street, among others. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and allow for extra travel time to accommodate the temporary closures.

Overall, the temporary road closures are necessary to ensure the safety of cyclists and spectators during the UAE Tour cycling race. By coordinating with relevant authorities and providing advance notice to motorists, the RTA and Dubai Police aim to minimize disruptions while facilitating the successful execution of the event.
