Dubai Capitals Win DP World ILT20 Season 3 Championship Title

The Dubai Capitals won their first-ever title in the DP World ILT20 Season 3 after beating the Desert Vipers by four wickets in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This victory was sweet for the Capitals, who lost in the final last season.

The Desert Vipers made a strong total of 189/5 in their 20 overs. Max Holden played an amazing knock, scoring 76 runs off 51 balls. He helped the Vipers recover after losing early wickets. Sam Curran supported him with 62 not out, hitting five fours and three sixes. Azam Khan also added 27 runs from 13 balls.

The Capitals started their chase poorly, losing David Warner early. Mohammad Amir then took two quick wickets, leaving the Capitals at 39/3 after the powerplay. However, Shai Hope and Rovman Powell worked hard to rebuild the innings. Powell hit two big sixes, and Hope played carefully. They put on 50 runs in just 31 balls. Powell got to a half-century off 30 balls. But Hope was out for 43, and Powell carried on until he was dismissed for 63 runs.

The Capitals needed 65 runs from the last five overs. Powell and Dasun Shanaka hit big shots to keep the chase alive. Shanaka hit 21 runs off 9 balls but was out. With 30 runs needed in the last two overs, Sikandar Raza finished the job by hitting three fours in the penultimate over. In the final over, he hit a six and a four to take the Capitals to victory in 19.2 overs.

Obed McCoy gave the Capitals a strong start by dismissing both Vipers openers. Max Holden fought back and played a brilliant innings, but the Capitals bowlers, including Haider Ali and Raza, kept the Vipers from getting too many runs.

This win gave the Dubai Capitals the first-place prize of $700,000 (AED 2.5 million), while the Desert Vipers took home $300,000 (AED 1.1 million). The Capitals also beat the Desert Vipers for the sixth time in a row.

Shai Hope won the Green Belt for being the best batter in the tournament, scoring 529 runs. Fazalhaq Farooqi of MI Emirates got the White Belt for best bowler with 21 wickets in 11 matches. Sam Curran, who scored 387 runs and took 7 wickets, was named the most valuable player (Red Belt). Muhammad Waseem from MI Emirates won the Blue Belt for being the best UAE player for the third year in a row.

With this win, the Dubai Capitals made history as the champions of DP World ILT20 Season 3.
