Kenneth Iwamasa, Matthew Perry’s live-in personal assistant, who admitted to injecting the actor, along with the alleged middleman who claimed to have obtained ketamine from Sangha, have both pleaded guilty to the charges they faced.
In Los Angeles, Dr. Mark Chavez, one of the two doctors charged in connection with Perry's ketamine overdose death, appeared in federal court for a brief arraignment. Chavez, who faces a felony count of conspiracy to illegally distribute ketamine, was barred from practicing medicine by a federal judge and released on a $50,000 bond.
Chavez has agreed to enter a guilty plea in an upcoming proceeding, though no plea was entered on the day of the arraignment. His defense lawyer, Matt Binninger, stated that Chavez is accepting responsibility, cooperating fully, and is profoundly remorseful. Binninger emphasized that Chavez’s remorse is due to the tragic outcome of a person seeking treatment rather than Perry's celebrity status.

As part of his bond conditions, Chavez surrendered his passport and agreed to forfeit his medical license, a decision he made during a separate administrative hearing earlier in the week.
Another physician involved in the case, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, has pleaded not guilty, as has Jasveen Sangha, who is accused of being an illicit supplier of ketamine and known as the "ketamine queen."
Prosecutors allege that Plasencia obtained ketamine from Chavez and discussed pricing with him via text messages, referring to Perry with derogatory language.
Perry, 54, died in October 2023 due to the "acute effects" of ketamine and other factors that caused him to lose consciousness and drown in his hot tub. An autopsy report released in December 2023 confirmed these details. Perry had publicly struggled with substance abuse throughout his life, including during his time on the popular 1990s TV show "Friends."
