Chelsea made a strong comeback to beat West Ham United 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, securing a crucial victory that lifted them to fourth place in the Premier League. The win was thanks to a second-half goal by substitute Pedro Neto and an own goal by West Ham's Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
This victory pushed Chelsea two points ahead of Manchester City in fifth place and Newcastle United in sixth, while they are now just four points behind third-placed Nottingham Forest.

West Ham had the lead when Jarrod Bowen, playing his first match after a month-long injury, scored just before halftime. Bowen took advantage of a back pass from Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, hitting a left-foot shot past Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Filip Jorgensen.
The game had been fairly quiet up until that point, with Chelsea missing several good chances. Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, and Jadon Sanchez all had opportunities but couldn’t find the back of the net. West Ham’s goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola, also made an important save, tipping Palmer’s free-kick over the bar just three minutes after Bowen's goal.
In the second half, Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca made some changes, bringing on Neto for Jadon Sancho and Marc Guiu for Nicolas Jackson. The changes paid off quickly, as Chelsea began to look more dangerous. In the 64th minute, Neto scored the equalizer after a shot from Fernandez was deflected into his path. The goal was delayed for a VAR review to check for offside, but it was eventually allowed.
Just ten minutes later, Palmer provided the assist for the winning goal. His cross was deflected off Aaron Wan-Bissaka and into West Ham’s net, leaving the visitors heartbroken. This was especially tough for West Ham manager Graham Potter, who was returning to Stamford Bridge, the place where he was sacked as Chelsea manager in April 2023.
Chelsea had chances to make it 3-1, but Palmer and Fernandez couldn’t convert. West Ham fought hard in the final minutes, with Mohammed Kudus and Konstantinos Mavropanos both testing Jorgensen, who made some crucial saves to secure the win for Chelsea.
For Graham Potter, the loss was a disappointment. After being let go by Chelsea, he joined West Ham just a few weeks ago but has yet to find consistent success, with only one win, two losses, and a draw in his short time in charge.
