Australia beats India by 184 runs, takes 2-1 series lead in style

Australia delivered a dominant performance on Monday in the fourth Test match in Melbourne, securing a massive 184-run victory over India. With this win, Australia now leads the five-match series 2-1. The final Test is scheduled to begin in Sydney on Friday.

The Indian batting lineup crumbled in the final session, with the team being bowled out for 155 runs. There were only 12.5 overs left in the match when Australia clinched the win. Captain Pat Cummins was the star bowler, taking 3 wickets for just 28 runs. Among his victims was India’s top scorer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who fought hard but was dismissed for 84 runs.

Earlier in the day, India’s experienced batsmen, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, failed to make an impact. By lunch, India struggled at 33-3, giving Australia a clear chance to push for victory. Cummins was exceptional in the morning, picking up 2 wickets for only 10 runs in his nine overs. He dismissed Rohit Sharma for 9 and KL Rahul for a duck, putting India on the back foot early.

India’s situation worsened when Virat Kohli was dismissed off the last ball before lunch. Kohli, who managed only 5 runs, tried to drive a wide delivery from Mitchell Starc but ended up edging it to Usman Khawaja at first slip. This left India in a dire state.

At the other end, Yashasvi Jaiswal showed great determination, staying unbeaten on 14 at the lunch break after facing 83 balls. However, India’s run rate was painfully slow, hovering at just 1.26, as Australia’s bowlers maintained tight and accurate lines.

Australia’s disciplined bowling attack and aggressive fielding ultimately paid off as they ripped through India’s batting order in the final session. Their performance solidifies their position in the series and sets the stage for an exciting final Test in Sydney.
