The Arabic Language Academy (ALA) recently welcomed a special group from the Catholic University of Italy. The group included 11 students and their guide, Dr. Wael Farouk, who is the Director of the Arabic Cultural Institute at the university.
The group’s visit will last for a week, from now until the 17th of April. During this time, they will follow an exciting program that combines learning the Arabic language with exploring the rich culture and history of Sharjah. The program is designed to help the students improve their Arabic skills while also getting a deeper understanding of the traditions, culture, and famous landmarks in the area.
This visit is part of the ongoing collaboration between the Arabic Language Academy and educational institutions around the world. It also supports the academy’s goal of spreading the Arabic language globally. The academy wants to create a learning environment that brings together language learning with real cultural experiences, which helps students feel more connected to the Arabic language and its heritage.

Dr. Muhammad Safi Al-Mustaghanimi, who is the Secretary-General of the Sharjah Arabic Language Academy, expressed his pride in Sharjah for being a place where people from different parts of the world come together to share their love for the Arabic language. He pointed out that teaching Arabic should not only focus on grammar and vocabulary. It should also help students understand the deep culture and history of the Arab world, giving them a full experience of what the language represents.
Dr. Wael Farouk also shared his thoughts on the visit. He said that hosting these students was an important step in bringing Arabic language and culture to Western countries. He believes that when students experience the Arabic language in an immersive way, they will take home knowledge that will deepen their connection to the language and its culture.
As part of their stay, the academy has planned several cultural trips for the Italian delegation. These trips will give the students a chance to explore some of Sharjah’s most famous cultural spots, such as the House of Wisdom, the Quran Complex, and the Islamic Civilization Museum. They will also visit Khor Fakkan and Al Noor Island, where they will experience the local Emirati culture and connect with the people.
The students in the delegation were excited about the lectures and the visits to cultural sites in Sharjah. They expressed their gratitude for the academy’s efforts in organizing such a comprehensive academic and cultural program. The students believe this experience will help them improve their Arabic language skills and also give them a better understanding of the Arab and Emirati cultural identity.
Matilda Ferrari, one of the students from the Catholic University in Milan, shared her love for Arabic literature. She focuses on studying and analyzing different kinds of Arabic literary works. Another student, Mila Vaninelli, who is a doctoral researcher in contemporary Arabic literature, said that her visit to Sharjah would greatly enhance her knowledge. She hopes that this experience will help her become even better at sharing her knowledge with future students.
