A2A Visa Change in UAE Sees Nearly 20% Price Increase

Travel industry experts have indicated that visitors choosing the airport-to-airport status change service to extend their visas will face up to a 20% price hike compared to previous fares. Managing director of Rehan Al Jazeera Tourism, Shihab Parwad, attributed the increase to higher airfare (nearly Dh125) and heightened demand for longer stays during colder months.

Understanding A2A Visa Change

The airport-to-airport visa change option enables visitors to swiftly obtain a new tourist visa by visiting the nearest country, eliminating the need to return to their home country.

Process Details for Visitors

Visitors can choose between a same-day process or staying overnight in the neighboring country and returning the next day. The same-day process takes about four hours, involving flying out, waiting in the airport of the neighboring country, and returning on a later flight.

Shift in Visa Dynamics

Due to the cancellation of the 90-day visa in the last quarter of 2023, demand for 60-day visas increased. The starting price for a 60-day visa, previously Dh1,300, now starts at Dh1,500. Pricing variations based on advance booking are noted, with discounts available for those booking a month in advance.

Changes in UAE Visa Policies

In December 2022, the UAE discontinued the option for visit visa holders to extend their stay permits from within the country. Visit visa holders were required to exit the country before returning on a new visa. The rules were temporarily altered during the Covid-19 lockdown for humanitarian reasons, allowing extensions without leaving the country.

Impact on 30-Day Visa Change

The price for a 30-day visa change by air has also increased from Dh1,200 to Dh1,300 (starting rates).

High Demand Dynamics

Demand for extending the 60-day visa is particularly high, with senior citizens and residents inviting family members for extended stays during pleasant weather contributing to significant demand for airport-to-airport visa changes.
